“The National Institutes of Health Mammalian Gene Collection (MGC) Program is a multi-institutional effort to identify and sequence a cDNA clone containing a complete ORF for each human and mouse gene. ESTs were generated from libraries enriched for full-length cDNAs and analyzed to identify candidate full-ORF clones, which then were sequenced to high accuracy. The MGC has currently sequenced and verified the full ORF for a non-redundant set of >9,000 human and >6,000 mouse genes. Candidate full-ORF clones for an additional 7,800 human and 3,500 mouse genes also have been identified. All MGC sequences and clones are available without restriction through public databases and clone distribution networks” see http:mgc.nci.nih.gov. (1).

The Chromosome 17 open reading frame 137 gene is associated with prostate cancer and functionally associated with redox related processes in cytoplasm, it belongs to the SelWTH family of proteins.  The C17Orf137 is trans activated by hepatitis B virus A antigen (HVVX-transactivated).  The C17Orf137 is absently expressed in breast cancer cells.

Several C3Orf34 like proteins have been analyzed and identified including HSD5.  The C3Orf34 have several splice variant sites that result expression of this protein in multiple variants.  The protein has several functional domains including multiple phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (ppc) domain in the  middle of the protein.  Similar to C3Orf34 a HSD5 gene (C3Orf34 like) was identified in chimpanzee with 4 extra amino acids at the N-terminal end of the protein.  Recently its noted that C3Orf34 is differentially expressed in cancer cells.  C3Orf34 is a 163 amino acid long protein with an apparent molecular weight of 20-22kDa in size.

FabGennix Int. Inc., has generated specific antibodies to C3Orf34 in rabbits.  The C3Orf34-selective antibodies were generated against peptide selected from near the C-terminal end of the protein.  The peptide has no sequence homology to other proteins in the gene bank.  FabGennix Inc. has  generated epitope specific rabbit anti-C3Orf34 epitope-specific polyclonal antibodies utilizing linear and cyclic peptide sequences.  These antibodies have been fully characterized for their activity on western blot analyses.  FabGennix will conjugate C3Orf34 affinity purified antibodies to fluorescent probes at nominal cost for direct visualization of antibody on Western, IHC, and confocal type of applications.  Limited quantities of the antigenic blocking peptide for C3Orf34 is also available for blocking and antibody depletion assays.  Please inquire before ordering.
