Neuropeptide Y Receptor Y2
Neuropeptide Y Receptor Y2 (NPY2R) is a G-Protein Coupled Receptor of the Neuropeptide Y (NPY) receptor family that includes NPY1R and NPY5R; it is located at human chromosome 4q31(1). It is activated by the binding of NPY, a neurotransmitter in the central, and peripheral nervous system (2). NPY2R plays a role in the inhibition of food intake, inhibition of electronic ion transport, contraction of intestinal circular muscle, wound healing, bone formation and in angiogenesis. NPY2R also plays a major role in migration, proliferation, and tube formation of endothelial cells (3). Under ischaemic conditions, NPY2R activity is increased and it plays a long-term role in the formation of angiogenesis. It is also considered as a candidate gene for type 2 diabetes in men (4).
Variation in NPY2R gene is associated with alcohol dependence, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, cocaine dependence, obesity, and in blood pressure regulation in obese children and adolescents (5). NPY2R is highly expressed in neuroblastomas, paragangliomas, and renal carcinomas. It might help with tumor vascularization and growth, but it can also reduce tumor growth via a negative metabotropicity (6). It is also expressed in heart, cortex, hippocampus, amygdala, choroid plexus, geniculate, hypothalamus, cerebellum, Ileum and colon. NPY2R is approximately a 46kDa protein (381 amino acids).
The NPY2R-selective antibodies were generated against purified Neuropeptide Y Receptor Y2 (NPY2R) protein. NPY2R-antibodies are affinity purified over immobilized antigen based chromatography, and the purified immunoglobulins are stabilized in antibody stabilization buffer. FabGennix Int. Inc., will also provide limited quantities of antigenic blocking protein for NPY2R-101AP antibody. Antibodies to NPY2R (NPY2R-101AP) will label ~46kDa protein in Western blot positive control samples for NPY2R and several other tissues. FabGennix Inc. will also conjugate antibodies with secondary enzymes (alk-Pase or HRP) or fluorescent probes upon request at nominal cost.
